Plant Vitality Monitoring

The novel process permits simple and direct monitoring of plants, and in particular of the oxygen supply to their roots. Various measurements on the surfaces of the leaves determine the oxygen content of the roots. The process leave the plants unharmed, and can take place in the field or a greenhouse. It uses a portable sensor unit with a light source and a spectroscopic detector to analyse the leaves, and a simple additional device to alter their oxygen concentration. The measurement data can be recorded for subsequent analysis.
