Plastic Electronics Conference 2011

Multi-functional System Integration – A Merge of CMOS, MEMS and Flexible Organic & large Area Electronics?

This intriguing topic will be addressed among others on Day 1 of the PE2011 Conference in the parallel session on Integrated Smart Systems , presented by Prof. Karl-Heinz Bock of the University of Berlin and Managing Director of the EMFT, Fraunhofer Institution for Modular Solid State Technologies.

Specialized solutions for systems combining conventional logic and memory devices with new technologies like Polytronics (flexible organic and large area electronics, FOLAE) and interacting with them in a systems oriented manner will enable new visionary products and are of paramount importance for the technology roadmaps described in literature [1,2]. Examples are large displays, complex moving object recognition or integrated personalized medical diagnostic systems read more

Co-integration of CMOS and OLAE
Join us to learn more about the business opportunities of this emerging technology and about the challenges in research and development of materials, manufacturing processes and integration ahead. The current theme of the conference is about co-integration. Like the promising area of cross fertilization between the traditional micro-electronics [CMOS] technology and the world of flexible, organic and large area electronics [OLAE]. Come and see yourself what promises this symbiosis holds in reserve!
Where Science and Industry Meet
The Plastic Electronics 2011 Conference is organized for the 7th consecutive year, and has grown into the annual focal event for professionals from academia, research institutes and industry in the emerging area of large area electronics. For the second year these professionals from OLAE science and industry will meet their peers from the CMOS micro-electronics technology area. The event is focusing on the most promising application areas in OLAE, which have entered or which soon will enter the industrialization phase.
• Oleds for displays & lighting
• Organic Sensors & actuators
• Flexible Photovoltaics
• Integrated Smart Systems
For the first time two important seminars will be organized in a pre-conference setting on Oct. 10, 2011. These are totally separate technology areas, but both with a huge potential for business applications and contributions to and impact respectively on human welfare and societal
