Invitation: Mathematics for Industry and Society in the French Embassy Berlin, 04. – 05.07.2013

Mathematics has been and still is a tool box that can be used in a wide variety of applications. In the recent two decades though, mathematics has turned into an important production factor. It has, in particular, a significant impact on industrial innovation cycles. Today, mathematicians model, simulate, and optimize real-world processes arising in many areas of industry and society. The influence of this methodology is especially strong in key technologies.

Due to their broad usability the mathematical sub-fields of discrete mathematics, optimization, numerical analysis, scientific computing, and stochastic analysis have experienced a considerable growth and are now employed to optimize, for example, various networks and train circulations, to develop models for quality assurance and to visualize big data.

During the conference, German and French experts will present examples of best practice solutions and applications in talks and open discussions.

Beside meeting other mathematicians you will have the chance to discover the mathematical side of the German capital on a guided tour through the “Berliner Dom” or the “3D Labor” of the Technical University Berlin.

The Participation is free of charge. The Conference will be held in English.
