New Nanobox and Nanopanel PCs concentrate high performance in the smallest space

  • Latest Intel dual and quad-core processors for extra high performance
  • Maintenance-free, rugged design for uninterrupted duty in an ambient temperature of up to 50 degrees Celsius
  • Can be mounted in a control cabinet or directly in a machine

With the Nanobox PC Simatic IPC227E and Nanopanel PC Simatic IPC277E, Siemens is presenting a new generation of especially compact, rugged devices for industrial use. The Simatic IPC227E Box PC is available with or without a PCIe slot. The Simatic IPC277E is a Panel PC equipped with 7 to 19 inch, wide-format touch displays. Intel dual and quad-core Celeron processors deliver high performance in a compact design. The enclosure of the smallest version of the device has a volume of just one liter.

With this sealed, all-metal enclosure, fanless operation and an optional non-volatile retentive memory, these new industrial PCs are designed for maintenance-free, uninterrupted duty in severe ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. Three different mounting versions enable these ultra-compact devices to be installed in even small control boxes. All versions are equipped with serial RS 232/RS 422/RS 485, USB, Industrial Ethernet and DisplayPort interfaces so they can be quickly and easily integrated into automation solutions. As the entry-level class of industrial PCs from Siemens, the Nanobox and Nanopanel PCs are suitable not only for control, visualization and communication tasks but also for use as data collectors in mechanical engineering, building automation, traffic control and energy transmission.

The new, fanless Nanobox PC Simatic IPC227E and Nanopanel PC IPC277E with an integrated 24 V industrial power supply can be optionally operated without a battery, and are designed for maintenance-free, 24-hour uninterrupted duty, even under severe temperature, vibration and shock conditions, and strict EMC requirements. A rugged mass storage system with a solid-state drive (SSD) of 80 gigabytes or more, and CFast Drives up to 16 GB, as well as an (optional) 512 kilobyte, non-volatile retentive memory ensure a high degree of data security. The devices have pre-installed diagnostic software for device diagnostics, and the Nanobox PCs also have four status LEDs. The Nanopanel PC Simatic IPC277E is equipped with a 7, 9, 12, 15 or 19 inch, high-resolution, wide-format industrial touch display with a wide viewing angle. The background lighting is up to 100 percent dimmable, which not only reduces the power consumption considerably but also lengthens the service life significantly.

These long-term availability industrial PCs can be configured online, and are supplied with a pre-installed, activated Windows Embedded Standard 7-E or 7-P operating system, Windows 7 Ultimate Multilanguage, and suited-for-Linux or VxWork-tested certification. Ready-to-use bundles of computers and software make commissioning quick.
