Siemens to provide Südzucker with a complete power supply system

The order covers the complete turnkey power supply solution, from high-voltage infeed to primary low-voltage distribution. For this purpose, Siemens will deliver the high- medium- and low-voltage switchgear, transformers, the grid control system, protective devices and the busbar trunking system. The order volume is worth approximately €8.6 million. The systems are expected to go into operation in the fall of 2015.

Südzucker AG operates a sugar factory in Zeitz (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany), which produces approximately 200,000 metric tons of sugar per year. A wheat starch plant is now being added to the facility. During the course of constructing the new plant, the primary power supply system must be restructured with a connection to the 110-kV high-voltage grid.

The new wheat starch plant on the property must also be reliably integrated into the factory's independent power grid. Siemens was asked to implement the power supply system as a turnkey project. For this purpose, Siemens will add two air-insulated, 110-kV switchgear with a double busbar and the appropriate transformers (31.5 MVA) to the existing transformer substation.

Südzucker AG will thus be able to not only draw power from the high-voltage grid but also feed electricity from the on-site power plants into the grid. The scope of supply also includes NXPlus gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear with double busbar (21 panels) NXPlusC switchgear (16 panels) and 8DJH load-break switchgear (4 panels).

Siemens will furthermore supply the Sivacon low-voltage switchgear (100 panels) from the Leipzig factory, including the appropriate busbar trunking systems. The Siprotec 5 protective devices as well as the installation of the Power CC grid control system are also included in the scope of supply.
