SEMANTiCS 2019 brings together industry leaders and data scientists in Karlsruhe

One of the core technologies for reducing complexity in business processes are knowledge graphs. “Those who stay on their islands will fall back. This is currently the case with a large part of the data.

They are kept in silos,” says Andreas Blumauer, managing director and founder of the Semantic Web Company which organizes the conference together with FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure, Fachhochschule St. Pölten, and the Universities of Leipzig and Amsterdam.

For everyone whose work depends on reliable data it is a highly time-consuming task to identify, connect, understand, and interpret the appropriate issues and pieces of information.

SEMANTiCS 2019 wants to show IT decision-makers how companies can develop their own knowledge graphs throughout the entire Linked Data Life Cycle in order to improve the quality of complex processes based on networked data.

Lectures, panels, and workshops will present numerous implementation projects for enterprises. Topics include process optimization and automation, information logistics and data management as well as business development and customer relationship management. Community events will offer the opportunity to discuss the future and significance of artificial intelligence with international high-tech experts.

The keynotes will be held by renowned experts from the USA and Europe, among them Willem Manders, Head of Knowledge Management at Shell, Michel Dumontier, Professor of Data Science at Maastricht University, Valentina Presutti, researcher at the Semantic Technology Laboratory of the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, and Michael J. Sullivan, Principal Cloud Solutions Architect at Oracle. They will provide cutting-edge insights from research and business.

About SEMANTiCS Conference

SEMANTiCS is an established knowledge hub where technology professionals, industry experts, researchers and decision makers can learn about new technologies, innovations and enterprise implementations in the fields of Linked Data and Semantic AI. Founded in 2005 the SEMANTiCS is the only European conference at the intersection of research and industry.

This year's event is hosted by the Semantic Web Company, FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure GmbH, Fachhochschule St. Pölten Forschungs GmbH, KILT Competence Center am Institut für Angewandte Informatik e.V. and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure is a not-for-profit limited liability company. As one of the largest non-academic information infrastructure institutions in Germany, we have the public mission to provide researchers and scientists with scientific information and to develop the appropriate products and services.

To this end, we edit and index large data volumes from manifold sources, develop and operate innovative information services and e-research solutions, and carry out research projects of our own. FIZ Karlsruhe is a member of the Leibniz Association which comprises more than 90 institutions involved in research activities and/or the development of scientific infrastructure.
