Through vessels in the fastest possible way

Syngo iPilot supports physicians during interventions

Global Positioning Systems for cars search for the fastest and most practical way to reach a specific destination. The software function syngo iPilot from Siemens Medical Solutions (Med) works in a similar way: It supports the physician in guiding the catheter as smoothly as possible through the arteries during interventional procedures. During this time, syngo iPilot visualizes the two-dimensional fluoro image, which appears in real time on the monitor, and superimposes threedimensional reconstructions of the data displayed. The additional information supports the physician in his interpretation of vascular structures and allows him to navigate the catheter faster and with greater accuracy. This is of special advantage during neurological invasions of the brain known for its tortuous and irregular intracranial vessels.

By pushing a button, syngo iPilot displays two superimposed images on the monitor, the two-dimensional fluoro image and its three-dimensional reconstruction. The additional 3D information supports the physician in his activities. Interventions with syngo iPilot are safer than conventional procedures. At the same time, the physician is able to treat patients more quickly, allowing him to treat more patients within his schedule. Since the examination time per catheter intervention is reduced by new functions, the radiation dose decreases as well. The patient is also injected with less contrast agent.

Syngo iPilot can generate different 3D data sets as, for example, information with diagnostic imaging procedures from Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MR) and superimpose them with the respective fluoro image. The software takes into account changes in image magnification or in the positioning of the C-arm and table. Syngo iPilot is available as additional function for all angiography devices with flat detectors from Siemens Med.
