New technologies for sustainable use of wood: COST Action E37 in the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM)

Key targets of this action are quality assurance and performance classification for modified wood and wood products as potential alternatives to wood treated with conventional wood preservatives. Institutions from 25 signatory countries co-operate in this project to achieve a cost-effective use of wood, wood fibres and recycled materials produced sustainably in Europe.

At an international Workshop on 4 and 5 December 2006 in the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) specialists will report on

– recycling of modified and conventionally protected wood,
– treatment of pollutants in the environment
– assessment and classification of timber structures.
Interested people have the chance of visiting the presentations and participating in the discussions. More information about the COST Action E37 and a continuous up-date on this Workshop can be found at http://www.bfafh.de/cost37.htm.
