Innovation Prize 2013 by the Council of German BioRegions

Altogether, 6,000 Euros are honoured to ideas from life science research projects with application aims. In 2013, the BioRegio Regensburg with its office BioPark Regensburg GmbH will organise the award. The awards ceremony will take place at the “German Biotechnology Days” from 14th to 15th May 2013 in Stuttgart. Deadline for application is February, 15, 2013.

The three equal prizes of the „Innovation Prize of the BioRegions in Germany“ with 2,000 Euros each will be awarded to inventors with outstanding, innovative ideas for modern biotechnology. Life science projects with application aims and high implementation potential will be decorated. This is supposed to show to the public the enormous capacity of ideas from life science research.

One task of the competition is not only to introduce to the public the fantastic science performed in Germany, but also to give some understanding of the practical use of it to the community. Last but not least, the prizes with a total of 6,000 Euros are aimed to promote the transfer of knowledge, novel technologies and innovations from research to economic implementation.

The Innovation Prize is assumed to stimulate scientists to establish their inventions or products within commerce, that is to generate sustainable solutions via transfer of the technology. Therefore, the prize not only appreciates the innovation itself, but also the impact of technology transfer from science to real economy.

The competition is addressed to holders or candidates of patents from academic and non-academic research institutions. The patents have to fit into the area of modern biotechnology. The awards ceremony will take place at the “German Biotechnology Days” from 14th to 15th May 2013 in Stuttgart.
