ILOG adds advanced Business Rule Management to IBM WebSphere®
Combination of ILOG JRules and IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow
Creates Agile BPM
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – November 9, 2004
ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG; Euronext: ILO, ISIN: FR0004042364), a leading provider of enterprise-class software components and services, today announced a new connector that will enable its award-winning ILOG JRules™, a key offering in ILOG’s Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS) product line, to add business rule management functionality to business process management (BPM) solutions built on IBM WebSphere® Business Integration workflow software. The resulting solution will allow business users to make policy changes within a BPM application with minimal IT involvement for faster business response times to customer demands, regulations and competitive threats. Industry analysts from such firms as Forrester and Gartner believe that advanced business rule management can enhance BPM solutions through automated decisioning, enhanced agility and reduced IT maintenance costs. ILOG JRules supports this functionality for IBM Websphere Business Integration customers.
Available immediately from ILOG, the new connector provides seamless integration between ILOG JRules and IBM WebSphere Business Integration software, including IBM Websphere MQ Workflow, allowing users to simply link their business rules with workflow tasks into the workflow Buildtime tool. IBM Websphere MQ Workflow is a software solution that provides advanced transactional human workflow for Websphere Business Integration and supports business process management (BPM) and business performance management initiatives. The ILOG connector targets customers in insurance, banking and government who are currently using MQ Workflow, or plan to use MQ Workflow, and need BRMS capability to enhance agility and flexibility. The combined solution will help organizations to implement highly-automated business processes that are easily and dynamically maintainable by business people.
Business rule management systems used in combination with BPM solutions allow the policies defined by sub-processes or services (as in a Service Oriented Architecture) to be managed or changed separately from the rest of the application. The resulting solution can then be adapted to changing business conditions by business users without having to create new versions of the software every time a policy modification is required.
ILOG has consistently built on its history of product innovation to make ILOG JRules the industry’s leading business rule software. For the second year in a row, ILOG was named to the leader quadrant of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Business Rule Engines. ILOG’s BRMS can provide a competitive advantage for many strategic business applications. Compliance solutions powered by ILOG JRules monitor high volumes of data in real time, helping to enable the immediate detection and reporting of faulty or fraudulent information. Customers of the award-winning ILOG JRules include CitiStreet, VSP, eBay, Zurich, MetLife, Sabre and many other leading Global 2000 companies and governments worldwide.
ILOG is a member of IBM’s PartnerWorld program, as well as IBM’s Business Performance Management Initiative.
