Siemens D3 wind turbines ordered for onshore project in France

Siemens will supply seven direct drive wind turbines with rotor diameters of 101 meters and a rating of 3 megawatts each to Haute Borne.

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract from Theolia, a French independent power producer, for the delivery, installation and commissioning of seven D3 platform direct-drive wind turbines for an onshore wind power plant in Haute Borne in the Somme region in northern France. When completed, it will have a total power rating of 21 megawatts. Commissioning is scheduled for August 2015. The contract also includes a service and maintenance agreement for a period of 20 years.

The modern direct-drive wind turbines of the type Siemens SWT-3.0-101 are rated at three megawatts each. The rotor diameter is 101 meters. The wind power plant will generate power equivalent to the electricity consumption of up to 15,000 households and will prevent 17,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Theolia has also signed a 20-year maintenance agreement for the project. This long-term program includes a comprehensive parts and labor guarantee, thus assuring energy availability. It will come into effect after the commissioning of the turbines in summer 2015.

Wind power and energy service are part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. Around 43 percent of its total revenue stems from green products and solutions. That makes Siemens one of the world's leading providers of eco-friendly technology.

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world's leading supplier of a broad spectrum of products, services and solutions for power generation in thermal power plants and using renewables, power transmission in grids and for the extraction, processing and transport of oil and gas. In fiscal 2013 (ended September 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of EUR26.6 billion and received new orders totaling approximately EUR28.8 billion and posted a profit of approximately EUR2 billion. On September 30, 2013, the Energy Sector had a work force of approximately 83,500. Further information is available at: http://www.siemens.com/energy
