Siemens delivering four industrial steam turbines in Enhanced Platform Design
One of the turbines will be used in a fertilizer factory in Indonesia's East Java province, delivering an electrical generating capacity of 12 megawatts (MW). Two turbines, each with a rating of 61 MW, will generate electric power from biomass in Pakistan, while the last of the four is destined for installation in Germany.
These SST-600 Enhanced Platform steam turbines represent advanced developments of the proven SST-600 series in three different design variants. The turbines are each supplied to operate as a controlled extraction back-pressure turbine, controlled extraction condensing turbine, and condensing turbine. The various design variants serve to meet customer-specific requirements.
Siemens' Enhanced Platform Design for industrial steam turbines offers operators the flexibility of using the machines for various areas of application in performance classes ranging from 15 to 250 MW.
This advanced technology platform features higher efficiency rates achieved by utilizing the highly efficient blading system long proven in large-scale power generating units, an optimized steam path, more efficient extraction control elements and an advanced casing design.
In addition, depending on the area of application, shorter startup times can be achieved while simultaneously increasing availability and enhancing service friendliness.
The Enhanced Platform Design is based on individual standardized modules that can be assembled in rule-based combinations depending on the given area of application and steam parameters needed, thereby offering an optimum product with proven components for every application.
