Siemens introduces new second pass reverse osmosis water treatment system for high quality water in offshore applications

The new system can be used on offshore platforms and drilling rigs to generate high quality water on-board – water normally transported to the platform. By generating water on the platform, costly transportation charges are eliminated and water volume can be adjusted according to need.

The Siemens reverse osmosis system is a rugged, pre-engineered, pre-assembled, standardized system that minimizes expensive installation and start-up costs. The new second pass RO system is ideal for offshore applications because it is a compact, single-skid unit for easy installation.

Reverse osmosis is a process in which pure water is produced by forcing waste or saline water through a semi-permeable membrane. On-site generation of water helps reduce costs and provides an additional source of water supply for various applications on the platform or rig.
