Siemens powers the largest cogeneration power plant in Turkey
The new natural-gas-fired cogeneration plant will be located in Kazan in Ankara province in the Central Anatolian region of Turkey. The Ciner Kazan cogeneration plant will supply 230 tons of process steam per hour and 320 megawatts (MW) of power for the new Ciner Kazan Dense soda ash processing plant.
Siemens is supplying a tailor-made cogeneration solution for the Kazan cogeneration plant based on F-class power plant technology. The company's scope of supply consists of an SGT5-4000F gas turbine, a dual casing SST-800/600 steam turbine, an SGen-1200A generator, an SGen-100A generator and the related electrical and I&C equipment.
Soda ash is an essential base material for various industries.
“The Kazan Project of the Ciner Group consists of three main plants; namely the largest solution mining plant in the world, one of the largest dense soda ash and sodium bicarbonate plants in the world and the largest cogeneration power plant in Turkey.

“Siemens is proud to power the Kazan CHP. Siemens has already supplied six F-class gas turbines for Turkish power plants in Ambarli, Antalya and Denizli. The Kazan CHP will be the seventh F-class gas turbine in Turkey.
In addition, Siemens has also supplied four H-class gas turbines to the country. This new order for the Kazan project further strengthens our market position in Turkey for large gas turbines,” said Karim Amin, head of Sales at the Siemens Power and Gas division.
The gas turbine will be produced in the Berlin gas turbine manufacturing plant, the steam turbine will be fabricated at the Görlitz plant, and the generators will be built in Erfurt, Germany.
