World Conference on Regenerative Medicine in Leipzig
Regenerative medicine has been gaining ground. Numerous technological applications have emerged in recent years for different indications. About 1,000 international participants representing the fields of basic research, application-oriented and clinical research as well as industry will discuss new findings in an interdisciplinary dialogue.
This biannual event is one of the largest of its kind in Europe and is unique for its wide variety of topics and its interdisciplinary approach. Abstracts for oral and poster presentations can be submitted until July 15th at the conference webpage (www.wcrm-leipzig.com).
The main topics of the conference are new stem-cell technologies, tissue engineering, biomaterials, diagnostics and the molecular basis of regeneration. A more detailed focus has been placed on regenerative therapies for neurological, cardiologic, oncologic and autoimmune diseases.
Bone, cartilage and skin defects are a special focus of tissue replacement. Moreover, the event aims to foster dialogue between researchers, clinicians and business representatives. The conference program therefore includes sessions on regulatory, economic and ethical aspects of regenerative medicine.
A new focus at this year’s conference is promoting the next generation of scientists. Special sessions have been reserved for young scientists and PhD students to present their work to an international audience. The “PhD sessions“ will be chaired by renowned scientists who will share their knowledge and offer new impulses.A discount student rate and travel grants for out-of-town participants round off the WRM’s young scientists program.
In addition to the scientific program, the event will serve as a platform for informal exchanges and networking. A many-sided supporting program with an opening get-together, a poster party and an evening event at the Leipzig Zoo’s newly opened “Gondwanaland,” Europe’s largest indoor tropical rainforest, offers participants the possibility to network with their colleagues in science and business.
The World Conference on Regenerative Medicine is organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI) and the Translational Center for Regenerative Medicine (TRM) at Leipzig University.
