Big Data Analytics for European Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
The DOPA project, coordinated by Volker Markl, speaker of the Data Analytics Lab, intends to provide data pools for both web and statistical data to the information economy, with the particular goal to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with data as the basic ingredient for data analytics.
At the European Dataforum 2013 in Dublin, the DOPA project demon-strated several use cases developed in that project. Thereby, the industrial partners ensured that the use cases are of practical relevance.
Within the DOPA project Internet Memory Research and DataMarket act as data pool providers. OKKAM s.r.l. is responsible for the data linkage among different data pools. Moreover, AMI Software and VICO Research focus on market analysis and consider the demands of potential users.
One use case that correlates Microblogging Posts and Stock Trading Volume raised the attention of many visitors. Jochen Adamek, who represented the DOPA project together with Moritz Schubotz from TU Berlin at the European Dataform, concludes: “We registered a very high interest in the DOPA project and we had fruitful and interesting discussions with po-tential users of the DOPA data pools.”
DOPA is a specific targeted research project (STREP), co-funded by the European Union, within the Seventh Framework Programme. The consortium is led by Technische Universität Berlin (Germany). The other five partners are Internet Memory Research (France), DataMarket (Iceland), Okkam (Italy), VICO Research (Germany) and AMI Software (France/UK).
