Compact RFID system for applications in intralogistics and small assembly lines
The readers of the Simatic RF200 system are designed as solutions for the low to mid-performance range and expand Siemens' existing RFID offering. The two compact readers RF210R and RF220R are designed for short ranges of up to 20 mm and 30 mm. They have a cylindrical design with thread diameters of 18 mm (RF210R) and 30 mm (RF220R) and a length of approx. 70 mm.
The RF260R reader of rectangular design with the dimensions 75 x 75 x 40 can be used for ranges up to 130 mm. The readers of the Simatic RF200 system are suitable for assembly and handling systems, or for small assembly lines for the identification of workpiece carriers. Further applications include production logistics and intralogistics for tasks such as material flow control or the identification of containers. The new readers are also suitable for materials handling systems with electric monorail systems, automatic guided vehicles, or palletizing systems where the transponders are secured on products or pallets.
Just like all other RFID systems from Siemens, the Simatic RF200 system can also be integrated simply and uniformly into automation systems such as Simatic or Simotion using predefined S7 function blocks FC45/FB45 and a comprehensive range of communication modules for Profibus, Profinet or also Ethernet TCP/IP and further bus systems. This significantly simplifies commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance.
The Siemens Industry Automation Division offers a comprehensive product portfolio for industrial identification with the name Simatic Ident. Siemens has been developing RFID systems for production and logistics for the last 25 years and is the market leader in Europe with more than 300,000 installed RFID read/write devices. The company offers numerous components for a wide range of industrial sectors and purposes. These include read/write devices, antennas, mobile data tags, software, and also consulting and design. The RFID portfolio so far comprises: Simatic RF300, the compact and powerful RFID system in the HF range, and Simatic RF600, the powerful RFID system in the UHF range. In addition to RFID systems, the Simatic Ident range also includes optical code reader systems for detection of 1D codes (barcode), 2D codes – such as data matrix codes (DMC) – and OCR (optical character recognition).
