High-performance industrial PC for demanding applications

19-inch rack industrial PC, SIMATIC IPC547D<br>

The rack PC is available with the 64-bit operating system Windows 7, up to 32 GB DDR3 work memory and Intel HD onboard graphics with dynamic frequency. With its high computing, system and graphics performance, the PC is ideally suited to high-speed processing of large volumes of data in industrial image processing for the tasks of process visualization, data acquisition and data processing. A redundantly configured power supply, RAID hard disks and solid-state drive offer a high degree of system availability and data security.

The new SIMATIC Rack PC IPC547D is compatible with the predecessor model in terms of mounting, interfacing and software. On the same price basis, it offers twice as much computing performance and three to five times the graphics performance. Designed for continuous industrial use around-the-clock at ambient temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, this PC operates with maximum computing performance without throttling, even in the maximum configuration. A redundant hot-swap power supply, RAID 1/RAID 5 hard disk configurations in a hot-swap frame and a solid-state drive offer a high degree of system availability and data security. The small mounting depth allows for space-saving installation in 19-inch control cabinets with a depth of 500 mm or more. With its temperature-controlled, low-noise fans, the device offers a high level of dust protection thanks to fan-controlled overpressure ventilation.

Special hard-disk supports, card retainers and power plug interlocks ensure protection against vibration and shock. The new PC offers flexible expansion possibilities via a PCIe x8 (1 lane) slot, two PCIe x16 (2.0 with 16 and 4 lanes) and four PCI slots for long expansion cards. One DVI and Display Port interface as well as an optional PCI-Express x 16 graphics card enable multi monitoring with up to four monitors.

The new rack PC has various interfaces: Two teaming-capable Gigabit-Ethernet and eleven USB-2.0 interfaces, of which two are on the front, and one is internal with additional mechanical interlocking for the use of a software dongle. For fast and reliable data storage, SATA hard disks are used with up to one terabyte capacity or a solid-state drive. For efficient diagnostics, the device features status LEDs on the front for fan, temperature and hard disks in the RAID network. For device diagnostics, the optional diagnostics software SIMATIC IPC DiagMonitor can be used. For password-protected remote access, for example, for the purposes of remote diagnosis or remote monitoring, the user can utilize the Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT 7.0) that is integrated into the Intel Core i7 and i5 processors. The energy consumption of the device can be lowered by using the Wake-on-LAN functions, or by switching between standby and active modes remotely.

The new SIMATIC Rack PC IPC547D can be supplied, if required, with a preinstalled and preactivated operating system – Windows XP Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit and 64-bit). Variants with Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) / 2008 R2 (64-bit) will be available soon. A tower kit is also available, which allows the PC to be used as an industrial workstation or server in control rooms and technical offices.
