The Future of Learning: Improving the learning process
Learning becomes more and more important as one of the indispensable tools to ensure future prosperity and well-being. New learning paradigms and pedagogic principles, new learning environments and conditions, and new learning technologies are being tested in order to find the right combination of parameters that can optimize the outcome of the learning process in a given situation.
After a successful prelude with a number of publications on learning, including the book The Future of Learning (edited by M. Tokoro and L. Steels, ISBN 1-58603-319-0, www.iospress.nl/html/books_cog.php), IOS Press launches a new book series on learning: The Future of Learning. This book series presents the latest advances in this important area, based on a sound foundation. Pedagogic, economic, structural and organizational aspects, the latest technologies, and the influence from changing attitudes and globalization are treated in this series, which provides sound and updated information that can be used in further improving the learning process in both formal and informal contexts.
Maja Pivec edited the first volume of this series, to be published on March 2nd. Affective and Emotional Aspects of Human-Computer Interaction. Game-Based and Innovative Learning Approaches (ISBN: 1-58603-572-X) discusses emotions, motivation, games and game-experience in the learning process. New research methods in the field of learning are related to affective and emotional approaches to computer-supported learning and human-computer interactions.
