Methods for detecting early stages of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) infections – also suitable for calves

Two new methods allow the specific and sensitive detection of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) infections in normal blood samples, even in early stages of disease where animals exhibit clinical symptoms and in blood samples taken from calves.
Both methods involve flow cytometry procedures which are ba-sed on the specific measurement of IFN-? release or based on the determination of MAP-specific antibodies, respectively.
