Novel Indirubinderivatives as potent antitumor-agents

Indirubin is a structurally isomeric compound of Indigo and is, for example, found in plants which are used for treatment of leukemia in traditional chinese medicine. The mode of action of indirubin and its derivatives has been detected, the agents are verified potent tumor-inhibitors which interfere with the cell division and cell cycle (Nam et al., PNAS 2005; 102(17): 5996-6003).
