Method for organ segmentation

The inventions are serving to segment organs or organ areas out of multi-channeled volumetric MRT data sets.
To do so, the first invention uses segmentation outcomes from Trial data, which was generated by hand and recorded by several people. After recording an MRT dataset, a first pre-segmentation method is used.In this case, the grayscale information from the MRT data is used along with characteristic regions to create probability data for the organ.
A further development of this technique delivers the possibility to use the image slices from the training data to determine at least three classes of characteristic shape. For every class a support vector machine is trained. By using an exclusion method on each other they are able to detect the characteristic organ form. Based on this segmented area a patient specific probability data set is generated, on which a further segmentation technique is used. By combining both methods, a reliable fully automated segmentation is possible, with one or more emphases. Furthermore this application is less susceptible to variability in the MRT data. It is also possible to process one channel volumetric data.

Heat exchanger with vibration damping

Heat exchanger suitable for devices that also work under lowest temperature and that need a vibration protection with simultaneous optimal cooling.

QLICK – Clip lock for assembly/disassembly of modular furniture systems without tools

The invention consists in a tool free connector unit for a modular furniture system, as shelves, space dividers, display furniture, and much more. The particular geometry of the three-piece system, including a clip-shaped closing element, ensures an outstanding stability, which is a critical aspect in many other screws-free systems already present on the market. The assembly and disassembly can be easily performed by anyone without specific competences and completely tools-free. Assembly and disassembly procedures do not damage the components which are designed to survive several relocations. A patent application has been filed in Germany and several prototypes of modular furniture including Qlick have been produced and successfully tested.
On behalf of the RWTH University, PROvendis is seeking a partner for licensing the technology.

Method for the Detection of Antigen Presentation

Efficient processing and surface expression of tumor antigens are a prerequisite for successful immune-based cancer therapies. Unfortunately, spatial distribution of antigens is very difficult to determine with standard histological techniques. So cells might harbor tumor antigens inside the cytoplasm, but lack the appropriate MHC I or MHC II presentation on their cell surface. The current invention discloses a simple method to determine MHC-restricted presentation of any antigen of interest on the cell surface.

Welding process for e.g. the hermetic encapsulation of integrated circuits, sensors and detectors

The new developed laser welding technology serves the parti-cle-free encapsulation of seal electronics against dust, humidity and gases.

MAGNETIC GRADIENT SENSOR

The invention concerns a sensor for the magnetic field gradient and applies micromechanical structures. Lorentz-forces excite these structures whereas the vibrational modes are excited by the respective components of the magnetic gradient. This allows highly selective measurements of the respective gradient components. The invention was made by researchers of the Vienna University of Technology.
