New whole cell biocatalysts

The invention consists of a new system for the expression of proteins in E. coli and its applications.

Compared to the state of the art the new autodisplay system is able to express also complex enzymes that could consist for example of several sub-units or additional components like anorganic groups. Those enzymes can be expressed in high numbers on the surface of E. coli (up to 180.000 molecules/cell).
