Intraocular lens device against retina diseases
The invention relates to an intraocular lens device which particularly, is to be utilised in the treatment of the central retina (macula), where healthy retina areas still remain. The main principle of the current invention is based on the redirection of the focal point ? which is generated by a lens device composed of at least one convex lens element and several wedge-shaped recesses ? from the area with impaired retina function to an area capable of functioning.
Surprisingly, it has been discovered that a significant reduction of the thickness of the lens device can be achieved by providing several wedge-shaped recesses.
