Optical nano-filters Performance increase of data transmission in fibre glass nets

The invention is a nano-scale optical filter for pre-determined extraction of certain wavelength areas from a light beam.

In particular, the filter can be used in increasing the performance of data transmission within fibre glass nets, in so-called DWDM Systems (Dense Wavelength Multiplex). Compared with optical communication systems that work with a single carrier frequency, this invention is able to increase the transmission rate from 10 Gigabyte per second by more than a thousandfold. Compared with the best currently available DWDM Systems this means a possible triplication of the transmission rates.
